The Balcony View Has Been Blocked by a Fern
Share
Original cat comedy · Short read · Fiction
A new fern appeared on the other side of the closed balcony door. From Crumb’s perspective, it had been placed directly in front of a highly important section of distant fence.
He filed a view obstruction notice by sitting behind the glass and looking personally betrayed.
Olive offered to negotiate. She approached the door, inspected the fern from a second angle, and concluded that the fence had indeed become harder to supervise.
The human moved the fern six inches. Crumb moved six inches too. His objection remained intact, although the original evidence had become difficult to explain.
Pickle suggested that Crumb might simply dislike changes he had not personally arranged. This observation was omitted from the official record.
By evening, the fern stood in a corner and Crumb watched the fence from a completely different window.
The human asked why they had moved the plant at all.
Olive referred her to the complaints procedure. It was a blank envelope underneath Crumb.
