Pickle Takes Minutes and Loses the Entire Afternoon

Original cat comedy · Short read · Fiction

Pickle became secretary because he was sitting nearest the notebook when Crumb announced elections. Nobody had nominated him. This was considered a sign of integrity.

The first agenda item concerned the bowl by the kitchen door. Pickle wrote, in the sense that he lay across the page and left several hairs, “Bowl discussed.”

The second concerned whether the first discussion had been sufficiently thorough. Olive proposed a subcommittee. Crumb proposed lunch. Pickle accidentally turned the page with his tail, advancing the association into next month.

The human picked up the notebook to write a phone number. Pickle objected to the insertion of unrelated municipal business.

At the close of the meeting, Crumb requested the minutes. Pickle presented forty-seven minutes of continuous sleep, followed by a stretch.

The chair described the report as unusually clear.

It was approved without amendment, except for Olive’s request that future meetings include more naps and fewer meetings. This motion was tabled beneath Pickle, where it remained comfortably unresolved.
