A Formal Complaint Against the Moving Patch of Light
Share
Original cat comedy · Short read · Fiction
Olive submitted a complaint against the sunbeam for abandoning its designated floor space. She had arrived at two o’clock with every intention of staying until dinner. The sunbeam had other plans.
At first she tried negotiation. She extended one paw into the departing light and stared at the window. The window offered no statement.
Crumb convened a hearing. Pickle represented the sunbeam, mainly because he had fallen asleep in it and could not be moved without disrupting proceedings.
Olive argued that tenants deserved stability. Pickle yawned. The chair entered this as a compelling astronomical rebuttal, despite understanding none of it.
The human suggested moving the cushion. All three cats looked at her. It was the sort of practical interference that made committee work impossible.
Eventually Olive moved four inches to the left. The minutes described this as a major infrastructure project, completed ahead of schedule.
The sunbeam moved again. Olive requested the name of its supervisor.
