Motion to Rename the Guest Room the Crumb Room
Share
Original cat comedy · Short read · Fiction
Crumb proposed renaming the guest room after himself. He cited his long service to the room, including eleven months of sleeping on its bed and a notable afternoon spent behind the curtains.
Olive asked whether guests would still be permitted. Crumb said yes, provided they understood that visiting a landmark did not confer ownership.
Pickle suggested a small gift shop. The human rejected this on the grounds that the room was already full of laundry.
Crumb accepted the laundry as a temporary exhibition of his influence. Most of it carried his fur, which established a clear artistic connection.
When Aunt June arrived, she found a cat spread across both pillows. She called him “a little sweetheart.” Crumb interpreted this as recognition from a visiting dignitary.
The renaming passed two votes to one mysterious rustle under the bed.
Unfortunately, the human continued saying “guest room.” Crumb responded by making himself available for guided tours, provided nobody expected him to stand up.
