The Hallway Excursion Was Longer Than Advertised

Original cat comedy · Short read · Fiction

The tour promised a gentle journey from the sitting room to the kitchen. Dot joined because the destination sounded promising.

Claude served as guide. He stopped first beside a shoe, explaining through intense inspection that the site deserved attention.

Next came the umbrella stand. Then a mark on the wall. Then the place where something interesting had possibly happened last week.

Dot asked, by moving ahead, whether the tour included actual arrival. Claude accelerated briefly, then paused to look behind him.

The human walked past both cats and reached the kitchen in four seconds. Dot admired this express service and joined it immediately.

Claude finished the tour alone. His report praised the small group size and opportunities for personal reflection.

Dot’s review noted that the excursion was technically accurate but operationally ambitious for a distance shorter than a sofa.

She recommended it to travelers who enjoyed stops, pauses, and the gradual discovery that their guide had no particular reason to be going anywhere in the first place.
