The Guest Room Hotel Has a Human in the Bed

Original cat comedy · Short read · Fiction
Dot’s favorite hotel reopened after weeks behind a closed door. She entered expecting crisp bedding, quiet surroundings, and no other bookings.
A human had installed a suitcase beside the bed. Worse, the human appeared to intend to sleep there.
Dot inspected the situation from the doorway. The guest said, “Hello, beautiful,” which demonstrated good manners but failed to address the reservation conflict.
The hotel manager explained that Aunt June was visiting for two nights. Dot wondered why this had not been disclosed during booking, a process consisting of remembering that she liked the room.
She accepted a corner of the bed as temporary compensation. Aunt June supplied quiet company and a surprisingly steady lap.
By morning, Dot had upgraded the guest from inconvenience to amenity.
When June left, Dot searched the room and found the original quiet accommodation less appealing than expected.
Her revised review praised the hotel’s personal service but requested clearer information about when the pleasant extra human would next be included.
