Professor Pudding Receives His First Student Evaluation

Original cat comedy · Short read · Fiction

The evaluation began politely: “The instructor is engaging and has excellent fur.” Pudding approved.

The next sentence raised concerns about unclear expectations, unannounced examinations, and a tendency to sleep during office hours. Pudding considered these signs of intellectual independence in the student.

The human also questioned why correct answers changed from day to day. The professor believed this prepared students for the complexity of modern life, or at least modern life with him.

Under “Would you take another course?” she had written yes.

Pudding paused over this response. Despite the complaints, the student appeared willing to continue opening doors and offering her lap.

He approached and leaned gently against her arm.

The human put down the imaginary evaluation and scratched his cheek. For a while, neither of them taught anybody anything.

Pudding later added a new course to the catalog: Sitting Together Without a Learning Objective.

It became the academy’s most popular offering. Attendance remained voluntary, which made the full enrollment rather more impressive than any of his previous achievements.
