Editorial: The Van Has Parked in Our Pigeon Coverage

Original cat comedy · Short read · Fiction

For three days, a white van has occupied the part of the view usually reserved for the lower half of a fence. This cannot continue without editorial comment.

The Gazette recognizes that vehicles must park somewhere. We merely question the assumption that somewhere should intersect with our entire transportation, wildlife, and cultural reporting departments.

Our correspondent can still see the top of the fence. This is hardly the point. Responsible journalism requires context, and much of our context is currently white metal.

The human argues that the van belongs to a neighbor having work done. We welcome improvements to the neighborhood, provided they happen invisibly.

We therefore call for immediate dialogue, increased transparency, and perhaps a slightly taller cushion.

At press time, the van moved. The fence beneath it proved unchanged, but the Gazette will not apologize for maintaining standards.

A smaller blue car has now arrived. An emergency editorial meeting is underway, once Biscuit finishes the nap postponed by this crisis.
